Joanna is a versatile singer, ranging from jazz to folk to classical. She is based in upstate NY and performs in the Capital Region, NYC, and the Hamptons. When she's not performing, she is tending her goats and her gardens.
A little more detail
Joanna began singing professionally at a young age, touring the world with the musical Les Misérables and has continued singing professionally ever since. She and her sisters sang as a trio as early as they could speak, accompanied by their mother on the piano. They performed throughout the east end of Long Island as "The Howard Sisters." Joanna studied classical voice from the age of 12 and shifted her focus to include jazz and folk in the early 2000s. Joanna has helped to develop original Broadway musicals in their workshop form, has recorded demo music for composers, and has co-written original music in her work with her previous bands (The Buttery Barmaids and Nick and Jo). She developed a cabaret show in 2024, Brooklyn to Barn, along with pianist and composer, Jane Hastay, which outlined Joanna's journey from NYC-based performer to "singing farmer." The show was produced at LTV Studios in East Hampton, NY, in their "East End Underground" series and aired on thier television and radio station. Joanna works with multiple groups in the Capital Region and with them has performed at Putnam Place, the Rochester International Jazz Fest, Caffe Lena, and more.
